EDM Adds Clean Room Capability

Electronic Design and Manufacturing is proud to announce the addition of clean room capability.  EDM recently acquired a Terra Universal hard wall modular clean room to offer further capabilities to our customers.  Currently this clean room is configured to a Class 100,000 level, but should additional levels of cleanliness be required, it is easily upgraded.  EDM added clean room capability to facilitate the assembly of oxygen breathing systems and LCD display overlays.

The clean room is enviromentally controlled and monitored 24/7 to allow us to maintain complete control of all clean room processes.

EDM Retains ISO 9001:2008 Registration.

Electronic Design and Manufacturing of Omaha, Nebraska is proud to announce our the results of our latest ISO9001:2008 quality system audit.  The auditors have found that EDM has met all requirements for continued registration as an ISO9001:2008 registered company.  EDM’s focus on continual improvement and preventative actions were noted as especially strong areas of our quality system and reflects our focus on providing our customers a quality manufacturing partner.

EDM Issues Supplier Guidelines for PCB Vendors

Electronic Design and Manufacturing of Omaha, Nebraska has developed a new set of guidelines for our PCB suppliers to follow when supplying EDM with printed circuit board materials.  Our supplier guidelines were developed using the recently released IPC-1601 2010 Printed Board Handling and Storage Guidelines, which details the industry standard best practices and guidlines to be used by PCB and PWA manufacturers in the handling and storage of PCB’s.  Our guidelines are avaliable for download here.

EDM adds Sniper III BGA Repair Station

The Sniper III is the latest in BGA and Micro BGA Rework system design. With On-Board control and powerful computer profile generation, including data logging. The system also includes a Thermalcouple Bank to develop the rework profile and monitor the component, board and environment. A 17″ monitor reflects the image of the bottom of the chip and the footprint on the board, these images are then adjusted to exactly overlay each other and the component placed automatically. APE will be performing the installation and training on June 23, 2010.

Electronic Design and Manufacturing of Omaha, Nebraska is excited to announce the addition of a PVA 650 conformal coating machine.   Jay Hall, EDM Production Engineer, will be visiting PVA’s manufacturing facility in Halfmoon, NY on June 1st and 2nd. The PVA 650 machine is a flexible robotic platform that is ideal for selective coating.  The PVA 650 features a robust overhead three-axis motion platform suitable for inline or batch operations. The PVA650 is ideal for selective conformal coating and dispensing applications that require a high level of accuracy and repeatability in moderate to high volume manufacturing environments. EDM begins process to meet ISO 13485

Today marked the beginning for EDM in its pursuit of adding registration to ISO 13485. A strategic plan was provided by Lowell Imhof, Quality Manager. EDM will begin the process of adding the new procedures to meet ISO 13485. A goal was set today to implement ISO 13485 by December 15, 2010. A Mid- January 2011 goal was set for having a pre-audit performed by LEAD Group and a registration audit to be performed by Platinum in Mid-February 2011. All members of our EDM team are looking forward to achieving this goal to meet customer requirements.
